Anna Mae Spenler Ware

Anna Mea Spenler Ware, of Burlington, IA, died at 6:45pm on April 16, 2019, at the Autumn Leaves Memory Care Home in Greenville, SC.

Born April 1, 1921, in Olds, Iowa, she was the daughter of John Buckow Martin and Osa Mea Stockman Martin. On May 29, 1939, she married Charles Rogers Spenler in Wayland, Ia. They remained married until his death on April 14, 1964. On April 1, 1970, she married Robert Edward Ware in Clemson, SC. They remained married until his death on August 16, 1997.

Anna worked as an R.P. Nurse in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa for three years, then for three more years as a technician at the Blood Bank at the Burlington Medical Center, and retired in 1970. She also worked at the Mount Union Post Office for four years.

She was a graduate of Wayland High School and received her Bachelors of Science degree in 1975.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3339, P.A.P. Mosse Lodge, lifetime member of VFW, Winfield. She was a Rush County Hospital volunteer in Ladysmith, WI. She was also a member of Great River Auxiliary, and a Great River Hospice volunteer.

Survivors include her son, Charles W. Spenler and his wife Aileen Spenler of Manhattan Beach, CA; one daughter Martha Mae Spenler of Northern, CA; three step-daughters, Alexandra Kirchner, and Amy Ogden; on step-son, Jeffery Wallen; three grandchildren, Janelle McGuire, Mathew Wallance, Darren Spenler.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John F. Martin, her children Lewis Lee Spenler and Jackie Ann Wallace, and her great grandchildren Trey McKenzie and Kristen McGuire.
