Ann McElrath King

October 29, 1947 — September 18, 2018

Ann McElrath King, 70, of Greenville, passed away September 18, 2018, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. Born October 29, 1947 in Greer, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris Manley McElrath. Ann was a teacher, assistant principal and principal with Greenville County Schools. She was instrumental in establishing the language immersion magnet program at Blythe Academy of Languages and using placement agencies to help recruit international teachers to build and support the program. She attended Columbia College and graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. She later earned her Masters from Clemson University and Administration endorsement from Furman University. She attended Advent United Methodist Church.

Ann is survived by her daughter Caroline See (Jason), of Greenville, SC; her son William King (Jillian), of Greer, SC; grandchildren Bryson and Karson See of Anderson, SC; Elizabeth and Evan King of Greer, SC; brother Larry McElrath of Salem, SC; sister Linda McElrath of Greenville, SC; nephew Benjamin McElrath (Shelby) of Clinton, SC; and great-nephew Charlie McElrath of Clinton, SC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd floor care givers at Waterstone on Augusta, Visiting Angels, Lutheran Hospice and the staff at McCall Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2pm in the sanctuary of Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 N Main Street, Greer, SC 29650.
