Andria "Andi" Weiss

Andria “Andi” Weiss (68) died  in her home in Anderson SC on January 18, 2016 after losing her battle to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Syndrome).

Born December 31, 1947 in Ohio she is preceded in death by her mother, father, older brother, Teddy , and younger sister,  Robin.

Andria received her BA from Youngstown State University, and worked for the Mahoning County Welfare Department & Wayne County Social Services before moving to Colorado in the 1970’s to get her MSW from the University of Denver. Remaining in Colorado she loved her work in mental health – first at the Aurora Community Mental Health  Center, and then in her own  private practice. She was a gifted psychotherapist known for her wisdom and non-judgemental nature.

In 1992 she realized a life long dream when she sold her house, bought a van and spent the next two years traveling the entire coast of the United States in search of her favorite beach.  She settled in Destin Florida where she proudly co-owned The Beach Dream Café for 5 years.

In the late1990’s Andria moved to South Carolina where she returned to her work as a psychotherapist  at the Anderson Mental Health Center until her retirement in 2010.

She spent her retirement years writing, painting, and visiting her beloved ocean whenever she could.  When asked how she wanted to be remembered Andria summed it up with “I always tried to help people grow to their full potential, and tried to make it a better world.”

…And she did.
