Andrew Paul "Skip" Foster III

Andrew Paul Foster III, known to most as "Skip," passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on 03/12/25 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Simpsonville.

He was born 01/03/1933 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Andrew Paul Foster, Jr. and Frances Kathleen Gunn. He and his younger brother, Hank, grew up true Army brats. By the time Skip graduated from high school, he had attended over 20 schools and lived in countless places to include Panama and Japan. Frances passed away while Skip and Hank were still very young. Fanabelle Schneider ("Fandy") served as their loving mother for many years.

In 1955, Skip graduated from Auburn University and became employed with Jeffrey Manufacturing Company as a field salesman and product manager. Before going to Jeffrey, he did a tour of duty, as a First Lieutenant, with the US Army, 710th Tank Battalion at Ft. Stewart, GA. It was there that he met Martha Anne Todd of Glennville, GA, and they married in 1957. Their son, Johnny, was born in 1961. The family became residents of the Palmetto State in 1979 where Skip lived until his death.

Anne died of cancer in 1985. After a couple of years, Skip met Freddie Jo Center Stuckey and they were married in 1989. Skip inherited a daughter, Phyllis, and another son, Randy, who he loved as his own. With Skip by her side, Freddie opened "Baskets & More Gifts" on Woodruff Road in 1993. The pair became proud and loving grandparents and remained inseparable until Freddie's death in 2020.

Skip is survived by his son Johnny Foster (Bobbie) and grandsons Jack and Andrew Foster of Savannah, GA; Step-daughter Phyllis Dowling Machosky (Tony) of Greenville, SC, granddaughter Stephanie Dowling Sims (Gerald) and great grandchildren Aaron and Marley Jo Sims of Greer, SC; Step-son Randy Stuckey (Donna) and granddaughter Kaylee Jo of Winterville, NC; Brother Hank Foster (Mary) of Marietta, GA and nephew Hank Foster Jr. of Ft. Mitchell, KY; as well as his beloved snowshoe kitty, Penelope.

A member of First Baptist Greenville and the Sertoma Club of Greenville, Skip will probably be remembered most for his thoughtfulness, his intelligence, and his playful wit.
