Aaron Byrd, Sr., known affectionately to all as Aaron, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 89, in Taylors, South Carolina. Born on April 28, 1934, in Newberry, South Carolina, he was a man of memorable character and warmth, whose life was as fruitful as the gardens he tenderly cultivated.
Aaron was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor before embarking on a distinguished 30-year career at Fidelity Federal /American Federal Bank. Aaron's friendly demeanor and interesting conversations were traits that endeared him to many, leaving behind a legacy of many connections, laughter, and memories.
He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Eddie Byrd Sr. and Rosa Lee Byrd; his brothers, Robert (Louise) Byrd, and William Byrd, and his sister, Alice (Harold) Hill. Aaron's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving siblings, Ocie Byrd, Maggie (Willie) Terry, Eddie (Harretta) Byrd Jr., and Lizzie (Otis) Goodwin.
Aaron's legacy will also live on through his sons, Aaron (Luis) Byrd Jr. and Jeffery (Shannon) Byrd, as well as his adored grandchildren, Brittany Byrd, Justin (Brittni) Byrd, Alec Byrd, and one great-grandson Savani Byrd. He also had many Nieces and Nephews with tons of cousins. Each of them will carry forward his spirit of generosity and love for life.
Known for his green thumb, Aaron's garden was not only a source of joy for him but also a symbol of his generosity. He shared the bounty with the elderly in town, spreading not just the fruits of his labor but also the seeds of kindness.
