Talmadge Lee Holmes, 80, received his heavenly promotion when he made his divine entrance into heaven to rest eternally with his Lord & Savior on April 16, 2023.
Mr. Holmes (known by his family and friends as “Tab” or “Buddy”) was born on March 30, 1943, in Greenville, SC, the son of the late Jacob Holmes and Geneva Scott Holmes Harris. A successful businessman, Mr. Holmes referred to himself as a leather engineer and strongly believed men should be dressed from head to toe! He worked for many years in New York City waiting on many celebrities such as President Lyndon B. Johnson, TV personalities Johnny Carson, Art Linkletter and Arthur Godfrey, musicians Paul Anka, Stan Getz and Gene Kruppa, actors Dean Martin and Kirk Douglas, David Rockefeller, and many others. After moving back to Greenville, SC he joined Style Corner and later The Barber Centre where he met many of his beloved clients and friends.
Mr. Holmes never met a stranger; he loved people and good conversation. He was very passionate about politics and discussing world issues. He loved music, antique cars, looking for “treasures” at yard sales, watching old western movies and working on home projects was his pride and joy. He will be remembered for his keen intelligence, strong work ethic, humor and generous spirit.
Surviving to cherish many fond memories are his wife of 48 years Rachelle Holmes, daughter Tiffany Holmes, sister Jeanette Penland, sister-in-law Francis Holmes and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by sisters Annette Holmes and Jessie Holmes, brothers William (Brut) Holmes, Andrew (Chip) Holmes, James (Jay) Holmes, Jacob (Dick) Holmes and Edward Holmes.
