Donna Marie Cook

Donna Marie Cook, a beacon of creativity and kindness, passed away on
December 15, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on October 24, 1949, in Delray
Beach, Florida, Donnas vibrant spirit and passion for life left an indelible mark
on all who knew her. She spent her final years in Greenville, South Carolina,
surrounded by the community she loved and the art that inspired her.
After graduating from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, with a BA in
theatre arts, she moved to Manhattan Island where she performed with New
York theatre companies before gravitating towards singing. She graced the
stage with the same passion she brought to every aspect of her life. Her
performances were not merely acts but heartfelt expressions that resonated
with her audience.

Donnas professional life was a testament to her caring nature, as she
dedicated many years as an Activities Director for a large New York nursing
home. Her work was not just a job; it was a calling, as she enriched the lives
of countless residents with her enthusiasm and innovative programs. She was
a beloved figure, known for her ability to turn everyday moments into
cherished memories.

Art and music were the cornerstones of Donnas personal life. A talented
blues singer and art photography, she was an integral part of two Greenville
bands, The Double Ds and The Cheap Blonde Blues Band, where her soulful
voice and infectious energy were the highlights of many performances.
Donna's art collection, much like her music, was a reflection of her passion
and creative spirit, capturing the attention and admiration of all who
experienced it.

Donna is predeceased by her sister, Nancy Forehand, and is survived by her
brother-in-law, Harry Forehand. Her legacy is one of passion, creativity, and
kindness, traits that defined her as a person and which will continue to inspire
those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her life.
