Allen Maurice Painter

Allen Maurice Painter, known affectionately as Allen to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, at the age of 62 in his hometown of Greenville, SC, where he was also born on July 23, 1961. His life was marked by his courageous spirit, adventurous heart, and handy touch that brought warmth and ingenuity to every corner of his world.
Allen was the beloved son of the late Jerry Luther Painter and his surviving mother, Annette Anders. He shared a life full of love and laughter with his devoted wife, Delores Berry Painter, and was a cherished father to his children, Chris Smith and his wife Holly, Morgan Howard and her husband Calvin, Scott Smith and his wife DK, Andrea Rafferty and her husband Jake, Jaime Wilson and her husband Josh, and Thomas Bass and his wife Sela. His legacy continues through the joyous lives of his 16 wonderful grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
he Painter family tree is deeply rooted with love, as Allen also leaves behind his caring mother-in-law, Patricia June Godfrey; his supportive siblings, brother John Grover Painter and his wife Denise, and sister Anita Ann Rodgers and her husband Ken; his sister-in-law Loretta Culbertson; and brothers-in-law Randall and his wife Beth Berry, and Russell Berry. His extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews will fondly remember Allen’s boundless energy and zest for life.
A proud alumnus of Greenville Tech, Allen was a man of many talents who loved working on anything that allowed him to use his hands. His career was as diverse as his interests, and he was an active member of various associations, where he formed many lasting friendships.
Allen's passions were as eclectic as his skills. His love for rock 'n' roll was only matched by his enthusiasm for racing and football. A devout follower of Jesus, he found strength and solace in his faith.
Family was the cornerstone of Allen’s life, and he cherished every moment spent at the beach or the lake with his wife, children, and grandchildren. These precious times created memories that will be treasured forever by all who were lucky enough to be a part of them.
Allen's life was a testament to the words that best describe him: courageous, adventurous, and handy. He approached each day with a can-do attitude and a readiness to face whatever challenge lay ahead. His courage was not just in the way he tackled projects but also in how he lived his life, embracing every moment with an open heart and a bold spirit.
His adventurous nature led him to explore, create, and inspire. Whether he was under the hood of a car or cheering on his favorite team, Allen's enthusiasm was infectious.
